About Insurance

Approximately 80% of John's clients self-pay. The health insurance field is continually becoming more complex. Some health insurance plans cover a portion of John's fee and some do not. John is a participating Regence Blue Shield provider, and many Blue Shield and Blue Cross "Preferred Provider" (PPO) plans provide benefits. However, coverage varies, with some plans not covering at all.

Many standard or commercial policies also provide benefits for John's services. Call your insurance company to verify coverage. If they wish to know the category of provider, inform them that John Bachelor, MA is a "Licensed Mental Health Counselor." You may also call our office, though we may not be familiar with your particular policy and cannot guarantee that any policy will pay.

We can provide you with a statement to request reimbursement from your insurance company. In some cases (e.g., Blue Shield and Blue Cross plans) we can bill your insurance directly when coverage is verified; you would then pay only your portion of the fee, pending insurance settlement.

John does not participate in "managed care" networks. If you have a managed care policy, your lowest cost option is probably to ask your primary care provider for a referral or to call your managed care gatekeeper (the number will likely be on the back of your insurance card) for a list of practitioners who belong to your network and therefore qualify for the lowest copay.
